Solo show 2007

How much does our family influence our desire to create, and is this motivation genetic or environmental?
If artistic motivations are instilled in us, like knowledge and personality, through an accumulation of life events and daily experiences, and as such our families, friends and those surrounding us strongly effect the formation of our identities then our willingness to appreciate art will be driven by the social norms of the time, and more specifically the social expectations of the sub-cultures we belong to and interact with.

As a product of genetics and social construction I represent the desires, knowledge and understanding of those surrounding me, both consciously and subconsciously, and my desires and motivations are driven both by innate urges, and by others opinions and consequential interactions and relations with me and the ensuing installation or sharing of their information and expectations.

This installation represents the connections between, and creative interests of, my ancestors and loved ones. Their images can only be seen through a transparent image of myself, and my own image can only been seen with their images in view. They become a part of me and I a reflection of them.
